Sàfilo Takes a Turn for the Better!

mercredi, 1 septembre 2010

Debt cut in half, mounting sales, increased share values on the stock market (up 30% since March). Sàfilo is feeling decidedly better, a year after being rocked by serious financial problems.

The Italian eyewear manufacturer learned some lessons from its recent misfortunes and will apply them in its upcoming strategic plan next fall. According to the Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore, the plan will have two distinctive features; a development of its own brands and a penetration of Asian and South American markets.

Bolstered by the new financial latitude provided by the partnership with Hal Holding, owner of over 4000 stores, the eyewear manufacturer intends to reduce its dependence on licences, which represents up to 80% of its sales. Determined to keep only the most profitable, Sàfilo will be counting on its own brands, Carrera, in particular.

Sàfilo also intends to develop new markets, but without getting back into the distribution field. In this regard, the eyewear manufacturer should be turning over to its Mexican chain to Hal Holding in the near future and will only keep its Solstice chain in the US.
