Luneau Technology has no regrets about acquiring Briot International
jeudi, 2 septembre 2010
Almost two months after buying Briot International, a business with three times as many employees as itself, Luneau is looking confidently toward the future.
The Briot acquisition has made Luneau one of the top three companies in the world in the medical optical equipment market. The market is not an easy one. There are just over 450,000 ophthalmologists in developed countries. But as it happens, the Briot acquisition is allowing Luneau to look beyond these countries. “We’re focused on developing new markets, particularly Asia and China, where the eyewear that used to be a luxury product is now available to more and more people,” said Luneau CEO Marc Abitbol in an interview with the French financial newspaper La Tribune.
Furthermore, it’s because of Briot’s subsidiaries in Europe and North America, particularly in Canada, that Luneau will be able to play a role on the international stage. “Briot complements our product line perfectly, with no duplication,” says Abitbol.
As for continuing on the path of mergers and acquisitions, Luneau is not ruling it out, but will first give itself time to deal with the Briot purchase.
